This week’s show sees an extended interview with Sam Walters & Auriol Smith… well known in theatre circles (Orange Tree Theatre Richmond). Postlip regulars, ALAW, are back for another night of high-quality folk music. ALAW is three leading musicians who bring a wealth of experience to a shared passion – the traditional music of Wales….We will be speaking with Oliver Wilson-Dickson……

Hans Gal’s Concertino for Violin & Strings is being performed this Sunday (24th) at Cheltenham Town Hall. So we will enjoy talking with soloist Tamsin Waley-Cohen and the ESO’s Kenneth Woods about the event…

With new music planned from Scarlette Fever, Saint Sapphire,Anatoli Tsampa and Castle Black.. and maybe a poem from Paul Curran’s new volume “Repeat Fees”…along with some local announcements, it all promises to be an exciting show.

On tonight’s “Cooler Classics”, expect to hear:

Claude Debussy’s La Mer (on 115th anniversary of its premiere… …

Otto Klemperer conducts Frederic Chopin’s Piano Concerto No 2 on the 170th anniversary of the composer’s death…

On 18th October 1904 Gustav Mahler’s 5th Symphony premiered in Cologne.. and midway expect Kenneth Woods to give us some insights into Mahler’s mind…

Also expect a little hot trumpet from Wynton Marsalis..and news from the English Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Swan, the Cheltenham Chamber Orchestra, the Cheltenham Philharmonic Orchestra, the Evesham & District Music Club….

And some film and TV music!!

A closer look at the work of Cheltenham born composer Christopher Gunning, and his oboe concerto….

Roderick Williams, soon to appear at the Stratford Music Festival, provides an insight into his career…

We also take a look at Nicola Benedetti, soon to appear in  the opening concert of the new ESO season..

Music will include:4 Seasons : Summer(Vivaldi) & Hungarian Dance No 5 , Brahms 2nd Symphony (Karajan/Berlin Philharmoniker)..

..and how many little maids??

Finishing off with Pavarotti , probably!!
