October 2018 – The wait is over! The Home of Jump racing, Cheltenham Racecourse, kicks off the 2018/2019 season this week with its traditional Showcase fixture commencing procedures. The two day meeting takes place on Friday 26th October and Saturday 27th October, 2018.

Each raceday will host seven races, where the UK’s top trainers and jockeys will return to Cheltenham after the six-month summer break. The action on the track is sure to be competitive as trainers target their horses to try and claim their place in the famous Cheltenham Winners Enclosure.

In addition to the racing, racegoers at The Showcase will not only be able to enjoy all the action on the track but off course, the popular SoGlos Showcase Zone will be returning in The Centaur.

The SoGlos Showcase Zone celebrates the best that Gloucestershire and the south west has to offer, featuring some of the regions’ most well-respected food, drink and craft producers. It offers the chance to sample local food and drink, indulge in the shops and explore other demonstrations.

The Pork Peddler, a food outlet from Malvern in Worcestershire, specialize in slow cooked meat with a delicious barbeque flavor. Options include brisket, the peddler pulled pork and one of our favourites, the pulled lamb, locally sourced lamb shoulder, covered in the famous Peddler lamb rub, slow-cooked and smoked over a bed of cherries, served in a brioche bun with a delicious home-made salsa verde. They will also be selling their range of pickled products, a fantastic accompaniment to the slow cooked meat.

Another delicious pork product on offer is the Farmers Finest Scotch Egg, made locally in Worcestershire. Flavours include pork and leek, black pudding and traditional sausage rolls – a delicious range of products to sample and purchase during a day at the races! India will be coming to Prestbury Park, with ‘The Indian Guy’ sampling his wares over both days, including authentic hot and cold street food, including vegetarian and vegan options.

Away from the food and drink Matthew Potts, designer and maker of bespoke specialist metalwork, will be showcasing his talent at the SoGlos Showcase Zone. Matthew is based locally to the racecourse in Brockhampton and is adept at brining metal work to life, from keyrings to sculptures, and everything in between.

Gates open at 12noon on both days, with the first race at 2pm. The ground is currently GOOD with a dry week forecast.
