…and some appropriate music too!!

And here are a couple of tracks as a bonus!!

  1. Andy Garrett’s interest in music began at age 9 when he won a school competition to conduct the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra. He then took up the guitar at age 10, wrote his first song at age 13, and began teaching professionally at age 16 for the Palmer School of Music. At age 17, he began playing live in various musical ensembles both at school and in his own locally formed bands. At age 22 he then wrote, recorded, and produced his first EP with the band Horizon. They performed at many live shows and went on to back up such acts as Black Oak Arkansas and Rare Earth. Shortly after this, Andy landed a job at a major guitar-string company (Dean Markley/American Winding) as their exclusive string-tester, which landed him in Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine. He also got a degree as an Honor Graduate in Recording Engineering through AIA and started an independent record label called GBM RECORDS with his brother, Jeff Garrett, in 1994 to release promo tapes and CD-R’s of his music throughout the world. In 2004; Andy’s first Interactive Instructional Guitar CD-ROM was released through the best guitar site on the internet “Chops From Hell” demonstrating 200 of his favorite licks, musical sequences, and advanced techniques.
Today; Andy lives just outside of Nashville, TN….and his music is available word-wide on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, etc….with his latest albums “Futurism”, “Another Way”, “Mysteries”, and “Horizon Remastered” burning up all streaming services! Listen now to “Minstrels”

Diarmaid MacCulloch :Thomas Cromwell: A Life.

Library 2018 926

Peter S Lewis & Diarmaid MacCulloch

Thomas Cromwell is one of the most famous – or notorious – figures in English history. Diarmaid MacCulloch’s biography is much the most complete and persuasive life ever written of this elusive figure, a masterclass in historical detective work, making connections not previously seen.

The author will be presenting a talk on the book at the Stratford Literary festival on Friday 9th November 2018 at the Stratford Playhouse.

The “In The Cooler” interview will appear here Friday 2nd November broadcast. (www.northcotswoldonline.com)

“In The Cooler” Friday 2nd November 2018

“In The Cooler” this week…something of a literary flavour, what with the Stratford Literary Festival in season!

Our regular poet, Paul Curran, will be joining us in the studio..and James Anthony will be online telling us all about his book – “Shakespeare’s Sonnets Retold”.

Diarmaid MacCulloch .. in a pre-recorded interview in Oxford, will give some insight and thoughts relating to his book on Thomas Cromwell….and interestingly there is a link with Thomas Cromwell as Hailes Abbey will be featured in the “Cotswold A-Z”.

Jerry Hull, The Silverbeets, Delerium Trees, Beth Thornton, Ashton Lane, Vertilizar and BeccaB will be providing the music…….

In The Cooler, Interviews

Chris Tarrant: Extreme Railways “Railways of the Holocaust” Channel 5

This is a subject and documentary that is not easy to watch. But you must watch it.

To think that humans could treat other humans in such a fashion almost beggars belief. Yet the historical facts..and survivors’ recollections and memories.. cannot be denied..now, or ever.

You can watch the documentary on “My 5” (you’ll need to register… HERE)

NCCR “In The Cooler” was able to speak to Chris Tarrant about the “Extreme Railway ” series….(last year…)
